Makber, The Grave, is one best known classical turkish song. It is really hard to sing even for the most talented Turkish singers. It’s a kind of very sad song. The poem which inspired this song is written in 1886. The poem is 2360 lines but this song is only 4 lines…

The topic of the song is presumed loss of wife of the poet. Poet sais: “Dark is everywhere… But this location (the grave) is full of light. I wonder if it is a grave or the west (referring to sun sets)… Your grave has became a shrine with all those flowers… And this shrine to a bride room”…
